Professor Krause on antibacterial soap



Professor Kurt Krause was in the Otago Daily Times today, talking about the USA's FDA ban on 19 active ingredients found in household antibacterial products. Professor Krause agrees with the ban, and said he had been surprised at how quickly the use of these products had grown.

Most bacteria found in the human body are "friendly", and we should not be attempting to kill them. The FDA has not banned antibacterial products from hospitals, where they are used correctly and are necessary to prevent the spread of serious infection.
