Animals trade-off reproduction rate and longevity. Thus an animal can be either loglived or have a very high reproduction rate, but not both. These trade-offs can be manipulated by diet. We are interested in understanding the genes that control these trade-offs in Drosophila.
This project is carried out in collaboration with Prof David Raubenheimer (Massey University) and Prof Steve Simpson (Sydney University).
