Professor Warren Tate about to begin his lecture

Last night Professor Warren Tate gave the second of his Rutherford lectures to a packed Hutton Theatre at Otago Museum. After introductory remarks from Dr Christine Jasoni of the Otago Institute and Dr Garth Carnaby, President of the Royal Society of New Zealand, Warren took the audience on a condensed journey through his professional career.

Warren acknowledged  the influence of his early mentors Professors George Petersen (Otago) and Tom Caskey (USA), then spoke about the work he and his research team have done on understanding the workings of the ribosome, and the RNA frameshift mechanism as a target for HIV drug therapy; and his more recent work on the possible origins of life, ME/CFS and Alzheimer's Disease.

Tonight Warren speaks in Wanaka.
